Live Chats

In this context, the M4D Net Live Chats involve a board of experts who act as moderators and engage with the M4D Net members in timely and real-time discussions. The topic addressed during the Live Chat is driven by the larger migration and development agenda whereby the M4D Net Facilitation Team mobilizes individuals with an expertise in the chosen topic to participate.

Live Chats are time-limited, with an average length of 1 hour. Each participant signs in as M4D Net member to be able to post comments. The contributions of each participant are displayed in the form of a ‘comment thread’. The participants can react to the posts sent by others, ask questions and animate the debate with their expertise during the allotted time of the Live Chat.

The objective of the live chats is to establish dialogue between migration and development actors who may not usually interact on a daily basis with each other. Furthermore, the diversity of experts provides an opportunity for the M4D members to learn about the agendas adopted by various organizations in a given migration and development related field.

Following the closure of the Live Chat, the M4D Net Facilitation Team will analyze the responses received and consolidate them into a summary that will be disseminated through various channels. In addition, the recommendations resulting from the Live Chats will further be used by the JMDI to feed into policy-making, training material, and other major migration and development consultations and events.

Please contact us if you have any further questions or would like to propose a topic to be covered by the next Live Chat jmdi.pmu@undp.org
