Youth, Employment and Migration in Mogadishu, Kismayo and Baidoa

In Somalia, nearly 70% of the population is under 30 years of age. Many people in this category have no access to education or struggle to enter the labour market because of a lack of skills, no access to job offers, limited capital for investment, or displacement-related vulnerabilities. This study focuses on urban youth looking at the cities of Mogadishu, Kismayo and Baidoa. 

This research project aims to study the relationship between youth, employment and migration, looking at three main questions:

Diomedes de la Rosa Núñez es ciudadano de República Dominicana. Nació en Santo Domingo, en la parte este de la ciudad, muy cerca del mar Caribe. Su madre y su padre siempre los impulsaron a él y a sus cuatro hermanos mayores a estudiar y prepararse para la vida; por ello Diomedes cada día continúa esforzándose por darle lo mejor a su familia, de la cual se encuentra por el momento alejado.  Debido a las complejas circunstancias que atravesaba su país natal, Diomedes decidió emigrar el día 06 de mayo de 2015, hacia Ecuador, buscando nuevas oportunidades.
