INTERACT – Researching Third Country Nationals’ Integration as a Three-way Process - Immigrants, Countries of Emigration and Countries of Immigration as Actors of Integration
This survey report focuses on integration as a three-way process that include immigrants, countries of emigration and countries of immigration. Its goal is to understand the effects of current diaspora and integration policies and to determine possible pitfalls, ways forward and areas of cooperation between countries of origin and destination. Integration means migrants participation in all areas of society and to be successful, it must take place across many levels of governance and in a variety of sectors, especially education and labour markets. The report argues that both diaspora and integration policies must furthermore put migrants first and countries of origin must do more to meet migrants halfway by combatting discrimination within their societies and policies.
