The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development recognizes both migration and urbanisation as critical factors for sustainable development. Furthermore, linkages between rural and urban areas lead to interrelated dynamics contributing to an integrated territorial approach.

This event brings active and engaged mayors representing different world regions together with key UN principals, Permanent Representatives from UN Member States, heads of major foundations and inter-city networks, and preeminent thinkers on sustainable development for a high-level discussion on the role of cities in meeting and galvanizing action towards the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Global Report on Internal Displacement (GRID) is the authoritative source of data and analysis on the risk, scale and impacts of internal displacement worldwide. The report offers insights into key challenges and opportunities in addressing and preventing displacement. It also highlights areas that require increased investment at local, national and global levels. GRID 2019 focuses on urban internal displacement and presents new evidence on the humanitarian and development challenges presented by displacement to, within and from towns and cities.
