JMDI participated actively in these 10th European Development Days (EDD) which took place in Brussels from 15th to 16th June. Jointly with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), JMDI hosted on June 16th from 9:15 to 10:30, a Lab session entitled: “Migration and Cities – Exploring the key role of cities in implementing the migration related targets of the SDGs”. JMDI was also present at the UN stand to actively promote the SDGs more generally.

On May 21st, the Joint Initiative for Migration and Development (JMDI) participated actively in a knowledge exchange debate organized by JMDI project partners in Morocco and Tunisia, which aimed at providing a platform for the exchange of practices and knowledge on managing migration for development at the local level.

This course provides an overview of the global migration crisis, its trends and drivers. The JMDI contributed with its expertise to the panels "The ‪refugee‬‬ crisis: beyond the state of emer-gency" and "The challenge goes local: integrating minorities".‬‬

On March 31st, the Joint Migration and Development Initiative intervened in a training event for Turkish authorities from central, regional and local level, organized by the ICMPD in order to create a development-sensitive Turkish migration policy through dialogue, coordination and training between central and local/regional government agencies.
