The 3rd World Forum of Local Economic Development (LED) took place in Turin (Italy) from 13 to 16 October 2015, gathering more than 2,000 participants from 130 countries, including the General Secretary of the United Nations Ban Ki Moon, several ministers and over 60 mayors worldwide.
During these three days, national, regional and local governments, associations, entrepreneurs, academics, researchers and members of civil society were able to discuss how to achieve more inclusive, innovative, equitable and environmentally sustainable development.

The JMDI is pleased to announce that the Second Mayoral Forum will be taking place on 12-13 November 2015 in Quito. With its national tradition of inclusion enshrined in its Constitution, the City of Quito is emblematic of the age of migration: being a city of origin, destination, and transit of migrants. What is more, on 17-20 October 2016, the City of Quito will host the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development that will span a number of subjects including those of urban social inclusion and equity.

The Joint Migration and Development Initiative (JMDI) is pleased to announce the launch of a White Paper on ‘Mainstreaming Migration into Development Planning and Beyond’, developed in co-operation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), at the upcoming IOM Conference on Migration and Cities on 26-27th October, Geneva and on the occasion of a dedicated side event which will take place Monday 26 October.
