This report was written and presented during a special session dedicated to the role of civil society in supporting cities in harnessing the potential of migration for local development at the 

Opportunity Space Competition

Opprtunity Space is an international design-build competition that seeks to respond to Europe's migrant influx by calling for contributions on the creation of a temporary mobile structure that will foster economic opportunity and social inclusion in Malmö, Sweden. The competition will bring new and established residents together to produce a public space hub for education, job assistance, and social inclusion programs that benefit everyone in Malmö.

The winning team will receive a $10,000 prize and up to $25,000 to implement its proposal in and around Malmö’s Enskifteshagen Park.

This document features the conclusions from the Thematic Meeting on Diaspora Engagement Strategies of the Rabat Process that took place on the 5 & 6 October in Bamako, Mali. The conclusions were derived from discussions and exchanges during the meeting and feature steps to be taken in order to better engage diasporas, including the development of policy frameworks and specific strategies, to develop evidence-based strategies and to develop and strengthen communication availability and accessibility to reach diaspora.

The Tenth African Development Forum will be held from 13th to 17th November in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on the theme, “Migration and Africa’s transformation”.
