Brussels, 30 November 2018 - IOM, the UN Migration Agency in cooperation with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, held the Brussels launch of its new guide “Migration and the 2030 Agenda: A Guide for Practitioners” on implementing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as they relate to migration.
Children on the move face specific risks and exploitation during their journeys. Yet, our ability to provide protection and assistance to these children is limited by the lack of information and data available today. This video explains why we need strengthened data collection and why these data should be made available to all professionals working on this issue.

Through this video, the Norwegian Red Cross seeks to dismantle inhumane myths that are often circulated about refugees. This is done by encountering the humane faces and voices of refugees in order to recognise the importance of inclusively welcoming and integrating refugees into our societies.
In this Migration Matters video, renowned migration scholar Hein de Haas debunks the faulted assumption that addressing the root causes of migration stops migration. Rather, he finds that "development in poor countries will lead to more migration."
In this video posted by Migration Matters, Annamaria and Max from Give Something Back to Berlin explain the approach to integration that they use with many newcomers, and emphasise the value of active and intentional listening.

The Programme Manager of the UNDP Joint Migration & Development Initiative (JMDI), Cécile Riallant, presents the future Global Compact for Migration in an interview with Platforma 4Dev. Riallant believes that there is “something missing” within the international framework when it comes to deal with migration. She stresses that the current migration context makes it more necessary for the international community to develop the proper tools to manage these movements in a “comprehensive long-term vision”.

In this video, Cécile Riallant, Programme Manager of the Joint Migration and Development Initiative (JMDI), explains us what are the linkages between migration and local development, and why the impact of migration is the most strongly felt at the local level and to what extent these realities need to be factored in local policy making.
