Main areas of work

Alison Talkers supports communications and visibility in the area of Migration & Sustainable Development (M&SD), especially related to the Mainstreaming Migration into International Cooperation and Development Initiative (MMICD). She supports the development and roll-out of Knowledge Management tools in M&SD and mainstreaming migration. In addition, Alison is also responsible for following EU and EU Member States’ developments related to Migration & Sustainable Development and supports the roll-out of capacity-building activities related to M&SD. She coordinates with external stakeholders including the EU, donors, and UN Agencies on migration mainstreaming in development sectors.

Previous experience

Alison has worked within the UN system for over 5 years, supporting global programmes on migration and development and with UN coordination and liaison. She has a strong background on international migration and received her Masters in this area at the University of Kent Brussels School for International Studies. Her current focus is on developing operational guidance and tools to support international cooperation and development actors integrate migration across various development sectors, such as health, education, and governance. This effort is being undertaken in collaboration with UN partners and tested with the EU and bilateral cooperation actors.
