Manuel Hoff is working as Policy Officer in the IOM Migration and Sustainable Development Unit in IOM HQ, collaborating with thematic divisions, regional and country offices to articulate IOM’s work with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development within the UN System.

Previous experience

Prior to his current position, Manuel worked as Chief of Mission a.i. and as Senior Programme Officer in IOM Ecuador, coordinating migration governance programmes, the Venezuela crisis response in Ecuador, as well as the 2016 earthquake response. He carried out other assignments with the IOM in El Salvador, the United Kingdom and the Regional Office in Costa Rica. His thematic expertise covers migration governance, sustainable development planning, disaster risk management, emergency response and collaboration across the humanitarian, development and peace nexus. He has been working with IOM for 9 years, with previous positions at the Berlin Center for International Peace Operations and in Academia. He holds Masters degrees in International Relations from the Instituto Barcelona de Estudios Internacionales, as well as in Contemporary History from the University of Freiburg.
