Lavinia Pretto joined IOM as an intern in the Migration and Sustainable Development Unit for the next six months, starting from the 15th of May. In her new position, she will be supporting the team with the organization of various internal and external events and capacity development activities, including coordination support, administrative assistance, and logistics, also helping in implementing the Global Programme on Making Migration Work for Sustainable Development.

Experiencias anteriores

Lavinia Pretto holds a Master's Degree in International Relations and Diplomatic Affairs, graduating cum laude at the University of Bologna. Prior to joining IOM, she spent a semester in the Netherlands, where she volunteered for Amnesty International planning an event on the conditions of migrants and refugees in the MENA region. Lavinia also worked for an NGO in Athens helping to design and implement sustainable plans for displaced people in Greece, especially those that encouraged the integration of newly arrived immigrant women through entrepreneurship. She carried out an internship at the Embassy of Italy to Athens, providing support in research, communication, and reporting. In addition, she worked as a research analyst for the Center for International Studies in Rome, besides volunteering in a reception center teaching Italian to migrants.
