At the International Forum on Local Solutions to Migration and Displacement (#Municipal Forum 2019), Cécile Riallant ( Head of the Migration and Sustainable Development Unit, IOM) spoke about how local authorities can ensure the realization of the SDGs.
Local authorities and municipalities can do much in order to connect their responses to migration and displacement to the 2030 Agenda. Migration and displacement are important elements for delivering on the SDGs, and local and regional authorities are paramount in our collective responses. Local authorities are important and have a key role in, for example:
- Delivering services.
- Bringing together different stakeholders in local communities.
- Influencing national policies and bringing local innovation and good practices to scale.
