The Migration Network Hub's Repository of Practices opens for submissions

The Migration Network Hub's Repository of Practices, which showcases replicable practices and serves as an inspiration for actors involved in GCM implementation, is now open for submissions. The United Nations Network on Migration (UNNM) established the Migration Network Hub as a virtual “meeting space” where governments, stakeholders and experts can access and share migration-related information and services. 

The Repository of Practices supports UN Member States in the implementation, follow-up and review of the Global Compact for Migration by highlighting existing evidence and practices that demonstrate what governments, organizations, and people around the world are doing to promote the well-being of migrants and their communities.

Submissions to the repository undergo a peer review process that review practices proposed for inclusion according to specific criteria, including the degree to which the practice is:

• Applied: The practice should have been implemented at the global, regional or national level, rather than merely being a proposal or theory
• Relevant: The practice should be linked to implementation of specific GCM objectives and/or actions
• Coherent: The practice should be in conformity with ideally each of the GCM guiding principles (see cross-cutting themes above)
• Innovative: Provides a new approach that could offer an impetus for others to develop similar practices
• Replicable: The practice is potentially adaptable to different country and regional contexts but being mindful of context as a caveat, systematized and documented to facilitate potential transfer or at least lessons learnt
• Transversal: the practice conforms with the 360-degree vision of the GCM, recognizing that a comprehensive approach is needed to optimize the overall benefits of migration, while addressing risks and challenges for individuals and communities
• Timely: Ideally, the practice should have been implemented since the GCM was adopted (post-December 2018)

Submitters are encouraged to use the dedicated Word template provided on the repository landing page to prepare their submissions and must create an account before submitting a practice to the repository.
