On Sunday, 17 September, from 11.45 to 13.15 EDT, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) will host a side-event at the United Nations Headquarters, Conference Room 5, in New York City. This event coincides with the "SDG Acceleration Day" and is set within the broader framework of the 2023 Sustainable Development Goals Summit.
This gathering will launch IOM's flagship report titled “Leveraging Human Mobility to Rescue the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda.” This pioneering report, developed in collaboration with esteemed research entities, illuminates the profound role of human mobility in bolstering sustainable development and achieving the objectives of the 2030 Agenda and underscores the potential benefits and challenges linked with migration.
The event will feature diverse perspectives on these issues, ranging from representatives of the Permanent Missions to the UN and sustainable development professionals to media members. Through this side-event, IOM aims to disseminate core evidence and advocacy points and create a dialogue on 6 proposed Acceleration Actions, which promise to shape the post-summit discourse and initiatives.
