IPPN Knowledge Café: UN Support to Rights-based Voluntary National
About this webinar
How can the UN support Member States in integrating human rights into the development of Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) and what are the benefits of doing so? Join this upcoming IPPN Knowledge Café to find out how human rights can strengthen VNR processes, learn about the new practical resource to maximize synergies – Human Rights and Voluntary National Reviews: Operational Common Approach Guidance Note – and exchange experiences with colleagues across the UN system supporting the development of rights-based VNRs.
Co-organized by several UN agencies (UNDP, OHCHR, ILO, DCO, and UN Women), this session seeks to further disseminate the guidance, promote its use, and stimulate discussion around opportunities for UN support to Member States in developing rights-based VNRs.
This discussion will be hosted by George Abualzulof, Senior Human Rights Adviser, UN Development Coordination Office (DCO), and will start with a brief presentation of the Guidance Note by Maria-Soledad Pazo, Senior Human Rights Officer, Universal Periodic Review Branch, Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), and Sarah Rattray, Global Policy Specialist for Human Rights, Rule of Law, Security and Human Rights for Sustaining Peace, Crisis Bureau, UNDP.
The presentation will be followed by concrete experiences from the following keynote speakers:

- Marialaura Fino, International Labour Standards Specialist, Decent Work Team and Office for the Andean Countries, International Labour Organization (ILO), Peru
